PSYCH 318W
PSYC 318W. Research Methods in Psychology
MY EXPERIENCE
I learned a lot about myself and the world while taking Psychology 318W at Old Dominion University. In addition, I gained a thorough understanding of social psychology's theories, principles, and practical applications thanks to this course.
I've studied a lot about influence as a social force in this class. I learned that people's presence and behaviors significantly impact how we behave and that we frequently follow social norms and expectations. Additionally, I gained knowledge of the elements of persuasion, such as audience characteristics, message believability, and message substance.
The writing and critical thinking abilities I honed in Psychology 318W were also invaluable. We had to do several research papers that evaluated social psychology studies critically and applied theories to actual contexts. These activities taught me how to assess research findings, write eloquently, and exercise critical thought when considering complicated societal topics.
I also gained knowledge of the preconceptions, discrimination, and social identity that contribute to social injustice and prejudice. Through this, I learned the value of advocating for social justice and equity and how social psychology research can be applied to social concerns.
Overall, I have enjoyed and benefited from taking Psychology 318W. I appreciate the information and abilities I have learned from this course, and I can't wait to use them in my upcoming academic and professional endeavors.
