COMMAND CAREER COUNSELOR
“Leadership is solving problems. The day [Sailors] stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them.” - General Colin Powell
MY EXPERIENCE
As a career counselor in the Navy, I have had the privilege of helping numerous sailors navigate their career paths and achieve their professional goals. This job has been gratifying and allowed me to grow personally and professionally.

One of the most important ways I have helped sailors is by providing career guidance and counseling. I work closely with each sailor to understand their career aspirations, strengths, and weaknesses and then provide advice on achieving their goals. This often involves reviewing career options, providing education and training resources, and helping sailors develop their resumes and job search strategies.

Another way that I have helped sailors is by providing support and guidance during difficult times. The Navy can be a challenging and demanding environment, and sailors may face personal and professional challenges that can impact their careers. As a career counselor, I provide a listening ear and a safe space for sailors to discuss their concerns and challenges. In addition, I offer guidance and support and connect them with resources to help them overcome challenges and thrive in their careers.

Through this job, I have grown both personally and professionally. I have developed strong counseling skills and learned to work effectively with diverse populations. I have also gained a deep understanding of the Navy's organizational culture and how to navigate its unique challenges and opportunities.

Overall, my work as a career counselor in the Navy has been an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding experience. I am proud to have helped sailors achieve their professional goals and overcome challenges. I am excited to continue growing and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
